The Office of Vital Records is a revenue-generating department that helps offset other expenses. All births and deaths occurring within the limits of Berwyn are certified by our Registrar and filed with Cook County and the State of Illinois. In keeping with global efforts to reduce excessive paperwork, the Berwyn Office of Vital Records has joined the State of Illinois in implementing the new Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS). This system allows local registry staff to enter birth and death records online.
