Vital Records is an income-producing department that helps offset other expenses. All births and deaths that occur within the boundaries of Berwyn are certified by our Registrar and filed with Cook County and the State of Illinois.  In line with global efforts to reduce excess paperwork, Berwyn Vital Records joined the State of Illinois in the new Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS). This system allows the local registrar staff to enter death and birth records online.
